Our premature spring in Northern Virginia showed off its harbingers almost side by side:

The tiny promise of warmer days, Crocus Chryanthus.

And summer’s threat of weeds unending, Cardamine hirsuta, the hairy bittercress.

And so we take the bitter with the sweet.
