As I feared, my identification of last week’s Something Bright was wrong. The correct identification is paintbrush (Haemanthus albiflos).
No idea what this week’s flower is.
[UPDATE:It is the Great masterwort (Astrantia major). How can you not love something called Great Masterwort?]
Snow Brush aka Sticky Laurel or Tobacco Brush (Ceanothus velutinus var. velutinus)
I’m not terribly confident of this identification, but it’s what I put in my notes when I shot this back in 2017.
I was right about being wrong.
This is Haemanthus albiflos, which some call paintbrush. I got the brush part correct and everything else wrong.
Musk okra, aka abelmosk, ambrette seeds, annual hibiscus, Bamia Moschata, Galu Gasturi, muskdana, musk mallow, musk seeds, ornamental okra, rose mallow seeds, tropical jewel hibiscus, or Yorka okra. (Abelmoschus moschatus or Hibiscus abelmoschus Linn.)
Coleus. I don’t know the species. I’m just getting interested in these plants. Buds are about a quarter-inch in size.
Balloon Flower (Platycodon grandiflorus)
